Ohiopyle State Park
Ohiopyle State Park, located just over an hour north of Morgantown in Pennsylvania, is a great destination if you’re looking to spend an entire day exploring waterfalls. This park is home to three major waterfalls: Cucumber Falls, Ohiopyle Falls, and the Jonathan Run Falls. Valley Falls State Park
Valley Falls State Park is one of our favorite waterfall destinations near Morgantown. The waterfalls at Valley Falls cascade along the Tygart River and offer beautiful views during any season! Valley Falls is easily accessible from the main parking area of the state park and is handicapped-accessible! The State Park also has plenty of trails and picnicking areas; you can also do some hiking and picnicking after seeing the waterfall!
Toms Run Nature Preserve Waterfall
Toms Run Preserve, Morgantown’s newest hiking area, is managed by the nature conservancy and features a hidden waterfall! To get to the waterfall, follow your GPS to the coordinates below, and you’ll find a small parking area on the left side of the road (just before a sharp left turn!). There is an interpretive sign there to help you spot it! From here, you can hike the gravel trail down to the waterfall. Toms Run Nature Preserve also has the main parking area with more hiking trails about a mile before the waterfall area.

The Cascades along Decker’s Creek Trail
The Deckers Creek Rail Trail has an area known as the Cascades, where you can see a beautiful waterfall just off the trail! This waterfall is located within 0.1 miles of mile marker 12. You’ll likely hear the falls and see the manmade path to walk down to the falls! The Cascades is most easily accessed by parking at the Masontown Parking Area and hiking toward mile marker 13.
Waterfall along Mon River Trail
The Rail Trail in Morgantown is not only a great outside space for walking, biking, and running, but they are also great for seeing seasonal waterfalls. Because of the runoff from the steep hillside, there is a spot along the Mon River Rail Trail for viewing a waterfall! You can find the coordinates below! This waterfall is best viewed after heavy rainfall and during the summer and spring.
Waterfall Location: Mile marker 12.5 of the Mon River Rail Trail. Parking is available at the Uffington Parking Area.
White Park’s Hidden Waterfall
Did you know White Park in downtown Morgantown has a small hidden waterfall? This little waterfall is formed by the lake overflow. You can access the falls by hiking the trail along the lake away from the park. You’ll come to a small overlook where you can view the falls.

Swallow Falls State Park, Maryland

Blackwater Falls State Park
Blackwater Falls State Park is home to one of the most popular waterfalls in West Virginia! And Blackwater Falls is conveniently a short hour and a half drive from Morgantown, making for a great day trip! Both Blackwater Falls and Elakala Falls are a must-see at Blackwater Falls! Tucker Falls at Mason Dixon Historical Park
Mason Dixon Historical Park is a hidden gem in Morgantown! This small park is located right on the border of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. During a visit to this park, you’ll learn all about Mason and Dixon’s journey surveying the region! The historical park is not only a great place to hike and picnic, but is also a great place to see a waterfall! This waterfall requires a short hike, but it’s totally worth it! The waterfall is located at the end of the Orange Trail. Parking is available at the barn and at the baseball fields.
